Corporate Volunteering FAQs

  • Volunteering with FOFA is a great way to work together as a team to make a meaningful difference for people in need in our local communities. The meals that your team will help prepare will be delivered by our agency partners to vulnerable people across Knox, Yarra Ranges and other nearby areas.

By volunteering with FOFA, your company will make a tangible contribution to the community and deliver on your corporate social responsibility objectives.

  • Guided by our passionate and experienced volunteers, your team will work in groups to prepare, cook and pack ready to eat meals. Using rescued and donated ingredients, you will help us transform food that would otherwise go to waste into delicious, nutrient packed dinners.

These meals will then be frozen, and later distributed to clients in need through our many agency partners.

You will also learn about how FOFA operates, gaining knowledge about how to reduce food waste using tricks and tips you can continue at home!

  • While we have food donated, FOFA still purchases food each week to supplement the donated ingredients, and encounter other costs such as packaging.

A donation of around $80-100 per volunteer will help us to offset the costs associated with meal production for that week and would be incredibly appreciated. We would also be happy to credit the contribution of your com any and volunteers through our social networks as sponsors of that week’s cook up. Please discuss this with our team if this is of interest.

  • Corporate volunteering for large groups is available on Thursdays from 10am - 4pm, or based on the availability of your volunteer group.

Smaller groups can also volunteer during our main cooking day on Fridays, also between 10am-4pm.

Advance bookings are required - please contact us at contact@fofa.org.au to check our current availability.

  • Please wear clothes suitable for cooking - including closed toe shoes and avoiding any loose fitting clothing that might get in the way while you are preparing food. Please also ensure that if you have long hair, you tie is back, and remove jewellery removed.

We’ll also kit you out with a stylish apron and hair net when you arrive!
